if you are considering amputation

Hi. A year ago our dog Sasha was diagnosed with a scapula area (“shoulder”) bone tumor. I know from that that the decision on whether or not to have surgery (amputation) is an anguishing one for some. I found the TRIPAWDS website extremely helpful, as well as one book i found on the website, which i subsequently ordered and read (the book is “Without Regret” – note i have no financial or other interests in promoting the book!). As someone who has researched the issue and gone through it, i am glad to discuss with others who are faced with that decision. Feel free to contact me. By the way, Sasha is doing great – we still go on frequent walks (though at a little slower pace with a couple of rest stops), she easily goes up and down the stairs, she hops up on the bed by herself (though i help her down), and still swims just as much as she did before the surgery.     -Glenn

  1. Thank you for the wonderful, unsolicited feedback Glenn! We are so happy to hear that Sasha is still doing well, and look forward to following her progress here in her new blog.

We also found that book very helpful, and have published a book review for Without Regret in the Tripawds Amazon Selections blog.

  2. Congratulations to you and Sasha for doing so well a year after her surgery!!! See, there is always some hope… That’s why we all joined Tripawds for our babies…

Sasha is beautiful!! My Jake also loved to swim… You can see his pictures and videos on his blog at http://jakesjourney.tripawds.com

  3. How proud you must be of her!! And she’s even swimming without a float coat…she must be a super-dog (although she forgot to wear her cape for her pictures…). Thank you so much for sharing your story and giving hope and inspiration to others of us going on the same trip. Awesome 🙂

  4. Awesome!! I would have to agree with you on how wonderful this website and the book Without Regret were to help us with this process!

Congratulations on a year! She is beautiful! We only had 16 weeks with our wonderful boy after his amputation, but we wouldn’t have done anything differently! It was all worth it!
